2014 Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant

Quarterly announcements were made each year on our website, Facebook, and Twitter.
State Farm representatives were invited each year to attend Distracted Driving Prevention program, and agents attended Brentwood, William Floyd and Wyandanch high school Distracted Driving Prevention programs.

In 2014, NYS Senator Phil Boyle and Fios 1 attended Wyandanch High School to experience the students increased awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.

In 2014, a representative of New York State Senator Thomas D. Croci attended our Distracted Driving Prevention program at William Floyd.

In 2014, Fios 1 aired our activities in Wyandanch, Stony Brook University Happenings published an article, and Babylon Beacon Times Record published an article.

2015 Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant

In 2015, a Fios1 story was aired on our activities in William Floyd High School. Newsday also attended this event. New York State Senator Thomas D. Croci met with Stony Brook faculty as we were setting up equipment to be informed about the initiative.

In 2015, Suffolk County Legislator Dwayne Gregory was scheduled to visit Amityville High School to attend our activities.

In 2015, faculty were invited and attended a television airing of Good Morning America to report on the dangers of distracted walking.

2016 Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant

In 2016, members of the Suffolk County Highway Patrol and the Community Relation Bureau attended our Distracted Driving Prevention program at Amityville High School to observe.

In 2016, one of our Stony Brook faculty attended quarterly meetings with the Suffolk County Traffic Safety Board.

In 2016, we hosted a train-the-trainer session for representatives from our four school districts, and the Suffolk County Highway Patrol and the Community Relation Bureau.

In 2016, a description of our program was included and cited in the New York State Governors Highway Safety Association Report on the dangers of drowsy driving.

In 2016, we submitted an article to the Journal of Public Health.
